UAS Foundations for Public Safety Operations Course

Course Description :

This is a practical, entry-level course for public safety professionals, emergency managers, and government partners who are building or strengthening a responsible UAS program.
Participants will learn how to develop disciplined operating habits for safer, smarter, mission-driven UAS support during complex incidents, search operations, damage assessment, and disaster response.

UAS Response Operations

Course Description :
This course prepares students to deploy UAS in active public safety and government incidents. Instruction emphasizes integration into the Incident Command System (ICS), risk-managed flight operations, airspace coordination, and execution of common public safety mission profiles.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion, students will be able to:

Integrate UAS operations into ICS and air operations
Conduct UAS missions in complex and dynamic environments
Manage risk associated with terrain, weather, and manned aviation
Execute multiple public safety mission types, including night operations

UAS Data and Decision Support

Course Description:
This course focuses on transforming UAS-collected data into actionable products that support operational and planning decisions. Students learn collection planning, data management, quality control, mapping, and integration of UAS products into command workflows.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion, students will be able to:
•   Develop remote sensing and collection plans
•   Perform quality control on UAS-collected data
•   Produce mapping and imagery products
•   Integrate UAS outputs into operational and planning processes

Note: It is highly recommended that students have completed ICS 300 and have a working understanding of Search and Rescue Common Operating Platform (SARCOP)
